Vinyl Care & Maintenance

A LITTLE CARE – MAKES A LIFETIME OF DIFFERENCE

After installation, we would recommend that for 1-2 days

  • Keep foot traffic to a minimum.
  • Do not put heavy furniture on the floor.

  • Sweep the floor to remove loose dirt. Do not scrub or wash
  • Use only a non-abrasive cleaner

Basic maintenance plan

  • Remove dirt and grit by sweeping or mopping regularly. Harsh cleaning chemicals should not be used on luxury vinyl flooring.
  • Wipe up spills as quickly as possible. The manufacturers of LVT and LVP may say that they are waterproof products, but water can still permeate between the small gaps between the luxury vinyl planks/luxury vinyl tiles, if left sitting on the floor for an extended period of time.
  • Use protective pads for furniture and appliances to prevent scratching. Ideally, they should be at least 1” in diameter, made of non-pigmented, hard plastic or felt, and rest flat on the floor.
  • Avoid exposure to direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time. A combination of heat and sunlight causes most home furnishings, including resilient floors, to fade or discolor.

High Traffic Areas

In high traffic areas we would recommend that you use a good quality protective mat that traps dirt, sand, small stones and other substances such as oil that could be brought onto the floors. Most manufacturers also recommend that mats without latex or rubber backings are used, to avoid possible discoloration.

Stain Treatment

For spot stain treatment, use a diluted bleach solution that is 1-part bleach, 10-parts water.
