NATURAL STONE PORCELAIN TILE
The perfect symbiosis between the unique beauty of natural stone with the pure practicality of porcelain tile
PORCELAIN & CERAMIC TILE
Porcelain tiles are composed of fine porcelain clay and fired at much higher temperatures than ceramic tiles. This process makes porcelain tile more dense, less porous, much harder and less prone to moisture and stain absorption than ceramic tiles....
There is no other material on Earth like it. Formed from millions of years of geologic forces, natural stone is quarried from different parts of the globe to make its way into our everyday lives in the form of counter tops, floor tiles and many other building materials.
CARE & MAINTENANCE
By following some basic care instructions, you should be able to keep you natural stone looking as beautiful as the day you installed it. The tile care instructions differ slightly, depending on whether the tile is installed inside or outside.
MILLIONS OF YEARS OF BEAUTY - MANUFACTURED PERFECTLY
Imagine being able to select a unique natural stone, that never requires sealing, never stains, is easy to clean and is almost as hard as diamonds. Imagine no more!
Natural stone is renowned for its uniqueness and beauty. Natural Stone tiles are cut from large slabs that are mined/cut straight from the earth in huge quarries. The veins, colors and textures are all natural made over millions of years with the combination of heat, minerals, earth and even fossil skeletons. The combination of all of these ingredients combined with the passage of time are what give natural stone its true originality.
During the 20th century natural stone was extremely popular as the alternative, ceramic, glass and metal were simply not of a high quality and not durable enough to stand the test of time – however that has changed with the growth in porcelain tile. Porcelain tile manufacturing now provides an endless selection of natural stone replica tiles that truly stand the test of time while helping homeowners and businesses realize their design vision. Now you can get near-perfect replica of natural stone that has the same characteristics of natural stone with lower maintenance and more resilient longevity.
Of course, when you man-make a product to replicate a natural product , inevitably there will be some considerations. One specific consideration is repetition. Porcelain tile is “printed” during the manufacturing process and although the process is very mature inevitably there will be some repetition in patterns. On a good porcelain tile, this repetition will occur every 800-1000 square feet; on a cheaper porcelain tile, repetition may occur every 300-400 square feet which is not a problem unless you are installing in a big space and are unlucky enough to “accidently” install the same pattern next to each other.
Advice:When you install tile you should always lay all your tile out on the floor to determine which tile pieces will be installed where — you should make sure that colors, shades and patterns will be ‘random’ and not ‘bunched’ together in a specific corner.
For rentals and areas with high foot traffic, we recommend porcelain tile due to its low maintenance, strength and high stain resistance. For bathrooms and specific areas where you are looking to create a very natural and unique space, we recommend natural stone.
Creating a mixture of old and new world and mixing materials like glass, metal, porcelain and natural stone — will create something truly unique and time resilient.
